This unique piece of wall art features an asymmetrical nautilus shell in a circular embroidery hoop. It symbolises that even things which are not symmetrical or 'perfectly shaped' had a beauty to them, if you just take the time to look.
I used silk dyes and metallic paint to create the design on pure silk, and then framed it in the embroidery hoop, finishing off the back neatly with gathered fabric.
The spiral nature of the nautilus is a symbol of the beauty of nature, reflecting life and internal harmony, the outwardly curving line epitomising movement and evolution.
